Who is getting excited about Halloween?
My kids sure are!
The boys have been online debating costumes since mid-September. They still haven’t come to any conclusions and you’d think world peace was depending on them making the right decision. (In their defense, they are both tall and even my 10-year-old is having a hard time finding what he wants in a size that fits.)
My Mom is shipping Skye’s princess costume in, and I know my biggest challenge there is going to be keeping it in one piece before the big day. (Maybe now is a good time to think about a backup?)
I’ve got to say; I am just about as excited as the kids.
When I was little, I never understood why my Mom said that Halloween was her favorite holiday.
Now that I am a Mom, I totally get it.
With so many holidays, there is so much to DO and prepare for (looking at you, Christmas) that we Mom’s can’t just relax and enjoy the season.
Halloween isn’t like that.
It is a holiday that we can relax with and enjoy. (And indulge in a sweet treat, or four, ourselves!)
This year I am having so much fun baking with the kids.
It is the first year that I’ve felt like Skye was old enough to be a part of it, and we are mixing up the moment and making the best of every day. The boys have become so competent in the kitchen that I can’t help but want to soak up every minute we spend cooking together.
To keep things simple, I’ve stocked up on Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Halloween Cake Mixes and Frosting. I picked them up at Walmart’s Bake Center. You can also find Pillsbury™ products in the Bake Aisle. These mixes are perfect for easy baking with your kiddos.
Christian sure approves.
I love that they come out perfect every time. As someone who can find baking a bit stressful, Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Halloween Cake Mixes and Frosting are the ideal solution to allow me to relax and enjoy the moment with the kids.
This week, we decided to make cupcakes.
All three of my kids love the look of these, and Skye couldn’t stop saying, “Mommy, sprinkles”! (She was referring to the Funfetti® in the batter.) My girl does love anything bright or sparkly!
And of course, the Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Halloween Vanilla Flavored Frosting was the perfect way to top things off. There are so many different Pillsbury™ (colored) frostings that you can top your cupcake with!
It was such an easy, fun afternoon, and I loved hearing the kids say that, “Mom makes the best cupcakes.”
Well, technically Pillsbury™ does, but no harm in letting them think I had something to do with the magic, right?
Next week, I believe that we are going to invite some friends over and let the kids have a baking party. It seems like a great way to celebrate the season. (And a good thing that in addition to teaching the boys to cook, I’ve also taught them how to clean up.)
Make sure you check out this Pillsbury™ Pinterest page for more inspiration on how you can #MixUpAMoment with your kids.
I would love to hear how you are mixing up a moment with your loved ones this Halloween season!
