As a very young child, like most other kids, I turned my nose up at vegetables.
It was my Dad, at least in part, that turned me around.
He has a passion for produce and gardening, and his enthusiasm was contagious. I can’t remember how many times I saw him slice a fresh tomato – either from his garden or the store – and put a little salt on it and call it a meal.
By the time I was half way through grade school, his love for gardening and fresh produce had begun to catch on.
I began to like salads, a love affair that continues today.
I can remember as a child in the winter going out and picking fresh lettuce from my Dad’s garden. Growing up in Florida, fresh produce was never off the table.
It is funny how we take things for granted.
These days, I don’t have a garden to run to when the urge for fresh produce hits me.
But thanks to Fresh From Florida, the produce I love is always in season!
No need for drab meals from cans for me – colorful, fresh and flavorful foods are always an option.
Florida Farmers make it easy for everyone to eat fresh produce year-round.
Just look for the Fresh From Florida label at your grocery store.
Lately, I have been enjoying peppers, blueberries, and tomatoes.
(Yes, tomatoes…in MARCH!)
One of my favorite things to do is to make a salad with all three of them.
Never tried blueberries on a salad? You MUST! They are one of my all-time favorite things to add.
In addition to fresh produce, you can also find seafood Fresh From Florida!
