There is no question that Skye rule the roost at our house. Her brothers adore her; Daddy eats her up, and Mommy can’t get enough of her snuggles and laughter. With such an age difference between the boys and her, there is no chance that she is going to grow up without being more than a little spoiled. Even if Mom and Dad weren’t so crazy about her, they cater to her every whim.
You can imagine that when it comes to keeping her safe and healthy, we all take it seriously.
I love knowing that I’m able to give her the very best toxin free products. Since she was tiny, I’ve made everything from Homemade Wipes, Talc-free Baby Powder, and Diaper Cream. And what I didn’t make, I bought what I believe are the very best organic baby products. We still love this baby shampoo!
I’ve also stocked her diaper bag (and now just her going out bag) with essential oils, so I’m always prepared for what comes our way.
Healthy Diaper Bag Makeover with Essential Oils
I never leave home without it! It is a must have for big kids and little kids alike.
Lavender is great for so many things! It is great to help calm your little ones. I put a drop on each of Skye’s feet at nap time and bedtime and anytime she is particularly fussy. It can help with digestion and colic. It is also a fantastic natural treatment for ear soreness. (Do not put IN the ear canal.) Now that she’s bigger, it is a must have for those three-year-old fits!
Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil works to boost the immune system. It is a great skin soother and can be used on eczema, cuts, and scrapes. (Note: Wait until baby is 3 months old to use Melaleuca and always dilute. Here are general safety guidelines: Under 3 months do not use, 3 months to three years 1 drop, 3 – 7 two drops, 7 -10 three drops diluted in a teaspoon of milk and added to a bath. For massage: Use 1 drop in 10ml carrier oil for 3 months to 3 years, three drops in 20ml carrier oil for 3 years to 12, six drops in 20 ml carrier oil for 13 and over. For lotion use 9 drops (1 – 12) and 16 drops (13+) in four ounces of lotion. (Source: Aromatherapy Thymes)
Ok, not an essential oil but I always keep it on hand so that I can moisturize and protect her skin.
The Quality of The Essential Oils You Use Matters!
I’ve tried most every essential oil company out there, and I am thrilled to recommend Plant Therapy as my preferred company!
After looking closely at the quality, purity, and ethics of so many companies, I’ve fallen in love with both the company and their oils. They are serious about safety and go to great lengths to test every single batch to ensure purity!
