Looking for Tips for the Perfect BBQ? I’ve got you covered. This Habanero Chicken with Poblano Tomato Topping is easy and delicious.
If it were up to me, I would never come inside when the weather is nice. I just can’t get enough of the outdoors.
When it comes to entertaining this time of year, a BBQ is always at the top of my list. It is simple entertaining at it’s best.
Of course, just because BBQ’s are casual, doesn’t mean that you don’t need to plan ahead. Today I thought I would share with you my go-to BBQ menus as well as tips for the best BBQ ever.
8 Tips for Throwing the Perfect BBQ
1. Pick Easy Recipes
This isn’t the time to pull out that recipe with twenty ingredients that has you chained to the kitchen. The whole point of casual entertainment is that you are there to enjoy your guests. Your guests won’t know or care if you made everything from scratch, so save time by using recipe starters when you can. The perfect example of this is using the new KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce Mix & Dry Rub to make a simple marinate. Delicious and so incredibly easy!
2. Prep the Night Before
No matter how simple your menu is, there is still work to be done. The night before you should do all the prep work that you can. Of course to do this, you are going to need storage containers.
You can’t go wrong with the BPA free Glad MatchWare Variety Pack Food Storage Containers.
I’ve always had a hard time keeping my plastics organized and I love how the Matchware lids have an easy color match and stack. Anything I can do to eliminate clutter in the kitchen is a win in my book!
They are a must have for my summer BBQ’s. I love to use them not only to prep ahead but also to marinate, and store leftovers and portions to share.
3. Prep Your Grill
You need to make sure that your grill is ready to go, and you have all of the supplies that you need. Since Walmart has everything I need for a BBQ, I take care of my grill supplies there.
In my book, a charcoal grill is a must for the best flavor. I trust Kingsford® Charcoal, which has been the gold standard in grilling for almost 100 years. Each briquet is made with natural ingredients and real wood which creates the authentic smoky flavor we all adore. I used to think that charcoal grilling was complicated, but the Kingsford Original Briquets are ready to cook in just 15 minutes and have a long burn time. The Sure Fire Grooves® help the coals light faster than ever!
Don’t forget to make sure that your grill is clean before the big event! The time to discover that you forgot to clean the grill the last time you used it isn’t when you’ve got a yard full of hungry people!
4. Keep Drinks Simple
You don’t want to spend the whole night playing bartender, so you are going to want to have a plan. For the adults, I recommend planning a signature drink or sticking to beer and wine. For the kids, a big batch of lemonade in a Mason Jar with a Spout is just perfect. I recommend offering water in a spouted jar as well.
5. Set the Mood with Decor
A little decor goes a long way to set the mood. My favorite simple way to do this is to string lights in the yard.
6. Don’t Forget Music
Plan some fun and upbeat music, but don’t forget the crowd when you are planning! Since not all parents agree what is appropriate for their kids, make sure you stay away from anything that might be questionable.
7. Plan Games for the Kids
Since you want everyone to have fun at your BBQ, spend a little time planning games for the kids. I’m a big fan of throwback games from when I was a kid. Think Potato Sack Races, Bean Bag Toss, and Horseshoes. Or, if it is hot, break out the slip and slide and water balloons. (Just make sure everyone knows to be prepared!)
8. Serve a Dessert that Fits the Occasion
While you want to serve a dessert, it needs to be something casual. I love setting up a simple ice cream sundae bar or letting everyone make smores.
