I don’t think that there is a mom out there who would tell you that keeping more than one kid fed is an easy proposition.
I remember when Alex (my oldest) first started eating like a big kid I didn’t see what the big deal was. And then a year later when Christian followed suit we discovered that as close as the two brothers are, when it comes to food, they don’t agree on anything.
Fast forward 9-ish years and nothing about this has changed.
Only now I have an almost three-year-old princess who despite my best efforts just may be the pickiest eater of the three.
Throw in the fact that part of the family is gluten free and the other part isn’t and you can understand that even snacks and treats can be a big ordeal.
You know what I love more than anything? When I make something, and all three of them are happy.
I want to circle the date on my calendar, so I never forget.
You know, the two times a year it happens.
Today’s Gluten-Free Chocolate Cereal Clusters were a huge hit with all of the kids. They are the perfect solution for those of us avoiding gluten, but delicious enough for those that aren’t. Honey Bunches of Oats has always been “dedicated to delicious” and this new chocolate flavor continues with this tradition. Every bite delivers the perfect combination of crispy flakes, crunchy bunches and now, all of the yumminess of REAL cocoa. It is the perfect way for our family to curb cravings for chocolate treats.
I joke all the time about hiding food in the fridge. Well apparently the boys have noticed because that is exactly what they did with these! I found half a batch hidden in the secondary fridge, presumably so only the kids would eat them.
Gluten Free Chocolate Cereal Clusters
- 24 oz marshmallows
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 6 cups Honey Bunches of Oats Chocolate
- 4 ounces mini chocolate chips
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt butter and marshmallows in the top of a double boiler. Stir in sea salt.
- Place cereal in a large bowl. Stir in melted marshmallows and then chocolate chips.
- Drop mixture by the tablespoon full on prepared baking sheet. Allow to cool to harden. (You can use the freezer to speed this along. The boys preferred them stored in the fridge.)
