As we head into the busiest (and wonderful) time of the year, today I want to talk about something that is so easy to forget.
I want you to stop and think about how you are doing in this department.
Self-care is something that I’ve always struggled with.
For most of us Mom’s, if we don’t make caring for ourselves a priority, it just isn’t going to happen.
No matter how hard I try to plan and prep ahead, there is always stress around the holidays. When I get stressed and pressed for time, the first thing out the window is self-care.
I think now is the perfect time to make sure that this doesn’t happen this holiday season.
I’ve got a plan!
This year, I am carving out a little time each day, just for me.
I’m locking the door, and tuning the craziness of a house with three kids out, and just going to take a few minutes to chill.
I’m going to stop finding reasons to skip yoga and meditation because I’ve got so much on my plate.
At least once a week, I am also going to take an hour to dedicate to my beauty routine.
The plan is to pamper myself with DIY’s like this Homemade Turmeric Face Mask so that when the inevitable holiday stress arrives I am looking and feeling my best.
I love making DIY Face Masks, and this turmeric mask has quickly become a favorite. I love how it can simultaneously leave my skin looking bright while reducing redness. Turmeric is a master at reducing inflammation, honey and avocado help to moisturize the skin and oatmeal soothes while exfoliating. It is the perfect combination!
I’d love to hear how you plan on taking care of yourself this holiday season!
The Quality of The Essential Oils You Use Matters!
After looking closely at the quality, purity, and ethics of so many companies, I’ve fallen in love with both the company and their oils. They have a large line of organic oils and are serious about safety. Every single batch is tested to ensure purity!

Frequently Asked Questions about the Benefits of a DIY Turmeric Face Mask:
How Does Turmeric Benefit the Skin?
Turmeric is the perfect balancer for the skin. Curcumin, the antioxidant that gives turmeric its yellow hue has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory properties. Taken internally, it has been shown to improve arthritis symptoms and reduce systemic inflammation in the body. You can read more about the health benefits of turmeric here.
Can Turmeric Help with Acne?
According to a review in Phytotherapy Research, Curcumin (a key component in turmeric) may help to clear your skin. Inflammation appears to play a key role in acne, and Curcumin is one of nature’s most powerful ways to combat inflammation. The study looked at a combination treatment of an internal supplementation as well as topical application. The combination treatment was shown to be associated with “significant improvement” in skin conditions including acne and eczema.
How Does Honey Benefit the Skin?
Honey is what is called a humectant. This means that it can help the skin both attract and retain moisture. The presence of copper in honey helps to keep the skin firm and increase elastin production. Iodine helps to speed healing, and zinc acts as an astringent. Honey is an antioxidant that can rejuvenate the skin as well as protects it from sun damage. It can help to absorb impurities from pores, and its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties can help promote healing.
What Does Avocado Do for the Skin?
Avocado is the perfect way to moisturize dry or dehydrated skin and combat wrinkles. Fats like the oleic acid found in Avocado work to soften the skin, while vitamins A, D, and E repair damage from the environment.
