Your teeth have never looked better than they will with this DIY Whitening Toothpaste! It is so easy to make and will leave your teeth sparkling.DIY Whitening Peppermint Toothpaste with Essential OilsWhen it comes to healthy teeth and gums, prevention is the name of the game. So many dental problems are the result of gum disease which is all the more troubling when you learn that the American Dental Hygienists' Association estimates that some 75% of Americans have some form of gum disease.

You probably know that plaque is the main cause of tooth decay and gum disease and that you should be brushing at least twice a day.

But have you ever stopped to wonder what is in your toothpaste? Most contain ingredients that holistic dentists suggest avoiding: sodium lauryl sulfate (for foaming), thickening agents, flavoring agents (like saccharin), humectants like glycol or propylene, flouride an hydrated aluminium oxides. They just may be right with their recommendation - a study at the University of Oslo, Norway showed a link between toothpastes that contain SLS and canker sores. On this list, fluoride is the most controversial ingredient. It is now believed that when used in excess it may cause teeth to be more brittle. It has also been linked to immune dysfunction and other diseases.

Until more research is done, I believe that moderation, at a minimum, is the safest route for my family. I am loving this DIY Peppermint toothpaste!

The Quality of The Essential Oils You Use Matters!

After looking closely at the quality, purity, and ethics of so many companies, I've fallen in love with both the company and their oils. They have a large line of organic oils and are serious about safety. Every single batch is tested to ensure purity!

    Hi Wendy,
I really love your blog and I am happy to have discovered you while surfing around 🙂

I have a question to hydrogen peroxide.I know for Americans it's very common to use it, but here in Germany nobody that I know does. I really want to try some for cleaning purposes... but as to putting it in my mouth... is it really safe???? For example I wanted to try a cleaning DIY from pinterest which called for borax. When I went to our chemist to buy some, she told me it's not available anymore because of being carcinogenic! Do you have any info on HP?

    Thanks
