A TOUCH OF SMOKEY FLAVOR: Calling all bacon lovers! This one's for you. The inclusion of bacon in this recipe not only adds a mouthwatering aroma to your kitchen but also infuses the green beans with a smoky, savory flavor that's utterly irresistible. It's a simple way to elevate a humble side dish into something that's truly special.
THE ULTIMATE COMFORT FOOD: Whether served up on a lazy Sunday afternoon, as a crowd-pleasing side at your next family get-together, or as an indulgent treat just for you, this Green Beans with Bacon dish is the epitome of comforting home-cooked goodness.
Ingredients
- Green Beans: The star of our dish! They're crisp, vibrant, and packed with nutrients. If you can't find fresh green beans, you can substitute them with frozen ones. Just make sure to thaw and drain them well before using.
- Bacon: This is where we get that smoky, savory flavor that marries so well with the green beans. You can use pork bacon, turkey, or even beef bacon. For a vegetarian option, try coconut "bacon".
- Olive Oil: This golden liquid adds a touch of richness to the dish and helps to coat the beans beautifully. If you prefer, you can use another type of oil like avocado or grapeseed.
- Tahini: Tahini lends a creamy, slightly nutty flavor to the dish. It's a sesame seed paste commonly used in Middle Eastern cooking.
- Lemon Juice: A squeeze of lemon juice brightens up the dish and balances out the richness of the other ingredients. If you're out of lemons, a splash of white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar can do the trick.
- Minced Garlic: Garlic adds a depth of flavor that can't be beat. If you're not a fan of garlic, you can reduce the amount or omit it altogether.
- Sea Salt: A pinch of sea salt brings out all the wonderful flavors in this dish. If you only have table salt, that's perfectly fine - just remember it's finer, so you'll want to use less.
- Fresh Ground Black Pepper: A dash of black pepper gives the dish a little kick. If you're serving this to kids or those with sensitive palates, feel free to adjust the amount to taste.
Tips & Tricks
- Bacon Bits: For that perfect bacon topping, aim for a crispy texture. These tiny bits will add a delightful crunch and a burst of salty goodness to your dish.
- Dressing it Up: When preparing your dressing, whisk until your tahini is fully incorporated. This ensures a creamy, smooth finish that will coat your beans beautifully.
- Flavor Boost: Add a bit of the rendered bacon fat to your dressing. It's a little secret that can elevate the flavor profile of your dish in an instant!
