When I first heard of the idea of oil pulling my first though was….gross! However after hearing of the many benefits repeatedly I decided that I needed to give it a try.
If you’ve never heard of oil pulling it is basically swishing oil around in your mouth for a period of time. It is believed to remove bacteria from the mouth, aid in promoting healthy teeth, improve jaw health and promote fresh breath. Many people believe that it can lead to improved overall health.
The best time to oil pull is in the morning because your mouth is full of toxins that have accumulated while you sleep.
The Quality of The Essential Oils You Use Matters!
I’ve tried most every essential oil company out there, and I am thrilled to recommend Plant Therapy as my preferred company!
After looking closely at the quality, purity, and ethics of so many companies, I’ve fallen in love with both the company and their oils. They are serious about safety and go to great lengths to test every single batch to ensure purity!
Read my full Plant Therapy Review for why they are my go-to company.
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon organic sesame, safflower, olive or coconut oil
2 drops clove
Switch in mouth for 5 to 30 minutes. (At least 15 minutes is ideal.) DO NOT swallow the oil when you are done. Ideally spit in the trash, especially if you have a septic system. Rinse your mouth well. Repeat up to three times daily.
I personally use coconut oil because I can’t tolerate the taste of the other oils. Both Clove and OnGuard are great at eliminating pathogens in the mouth and can improve your overall dental hygiene.
