But according to a new study in the Annals of Internal Medicine, this may not be the case.
Apparently, even if you exercise on a regular basis, sitting too much can put you at a higher risk of developing diabetes or heart disease.
A Mayo Clinic Study by Dr. James Levine suggests that sitting for more than four hours a day can boost your risk of heart problems by up to 125 percent. YIKES!
This is a tough statistic to swallow, especially since most of us need to be on the computer for work.
Could the Answer Be a Sit and Stand Desk Convertor?
One way to combat sitting too much is with a standing desk. However, since standing all day can also have a negative impact, a desk that allows you to both sit and stand can be the solution.
The good news is that according to Mike Loosemore a sports doctor at London’s University College Hospital, standing an extra three hours a day five days a week can have a significant impact. It can burn some 30,000 additional calories a year which could translate to a weight loss of up to 8.6 pounds.
