Ingredients

  • cup butter divided
  • 2 pounds yellow onions halved, peeled, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ¼ cup cooking sherry
  • 5 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 1- inch thick slices of baguette
  • 1 ounce shredded Gruyere cheese

Instructions

  • Select Sear/Saute and set the temperature to high.
  • Add ¼ cup of the butter.
  • When the butter melts, add the onions, thyme, salt, and pepper to the pot and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Reduce the temperature to medium (3), and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Add the broth and Worcestershire sauce.

  • Select High Pressure, and set the cook time to 15 minutes. Hit Start.
  • When the time is complete, do a quick release of the pressure by moving the pressure release valve to vent.
  • Carefully transfer the soup to serving dishes.
  • Spread the remaining butter on the bread slices.
  • Add the air fryer basket to the inner pot and arrange the toast. Top with cheese.
  • Close the crisping lid. Select air fry, 390 ° F, and set the time to 5 minutes. Hit start.
  • Carefully remove the toast from the Foodi and serve over the soup.
