Ingredients

  • 3 cups filtered water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh turmeric grated (or ½ teaspoon ground turmeric)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated (or ½ teaspoon ground)
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 pinch black pepper optional; helps with turmeric absorption

Instructions

  • Place water, turmeric, and ginger in a medium saucepan.
  • Simmer for 10 minutes over medium heat.
  • Reduce heat to low, and whisk in lemon juice and honey.
  • Add black pepper if using.
  • If you used fresh turmeric and ginger strain.
  • If you used powdered, use an immersion blender to make sure the ground spices are well blended. (You may need to stir as you drink.)
  • Serve warm.

Notes

For an extra kick of heat, try adding in a pinch of cayenne pepper.
