Creamy Tomato Sauce with Cream Cheese
This Creamy Tomato Sauce with Cream Cheese is a swoon-worthy tomato sauce that is perfect for pasta or zucchini noodles! It also makes a fabulous topping for chicken. Since it comes together in less than ten minutes, it is perfect for a weeknight meal.
- 1/4 cup butter grass-fed or Garlic Ghee
- 1/2 red onion diced
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 14.5 ounces crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream or quinoa cream
Heat butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Add onion, and cook for 8 minutes.
Stir in garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.
Add tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
Reduce to a simmer and cook for five minutes.
Cut cream cheese into small cubes and add to the saucepan.
Reduce heat to low, and cook until melted stirring often.
Remove from heat and stir in cream.
