Your Kids Will Love These Healthy Halloween Candy Options!

Parenting is such a balancing act, isn't it?

We want the best for our kids. We want them to have great childhood memories and also to be healthy.

When we hit this time of year, those two goals can be conflicting.

Halloween has always been an especially challenging balancing act.

Let's face it: Our kids Halloween candy bag is typically loaded with spooky ingredients.

There are GMOs, chemicals, artificial dyes...and that just gets the list started.

On one hand, I've always wanted my kids to get to enjoy Halloween like other kids.

On the other hand, I really don't want them loading up on all that junk.

Over the years, my go-to strategy has been stocking up on healthy Halloween candy options that are better for my kids.

By better for you, I don't mean that you will find any kale hiding in the candy.

Sorry Moms, but candy is still candy.  (And remember, we want them to have happy childhood memories.  Not for their candy to taste like crazy jelly beans a-la-Harry Potter.)

Rather my go to options are better for your by being either organic or non-GMO, and free from unwanted things like MSG and high-fructose corn syrup.

And don't worry - all of these options have been picky-kid tested. The verdict? They are Scary-Good!

It is hard to believe that this decadent caramel candy is organic, gluten-free, and vegan. This Non-GMO cany is also free of corn syrup, and soy-free. With just six ingredients, this is treat that you can feel good about giving your family.

Sea Salt Chocolate Covered Coconut Milk Caramel Bites - Thrive Market or get them from Amazon.

These vegan chewy treats are made with premium ingredients. You've got a smooth, creamy caramel (made with coconut milk), covered with decadent dark chocolate. It is finished off with just the right hint of salt! They are gluten-free, soy-free, and contain no corn syrup or GMOs.

Enjoy Life Mini Chocolate Chips Snack Pack - Thrive Market or get them from Amazon.

Does anyone else have a child that thinks a handful of chocolate chips is the best thing ever? This is Skye. These little snack packs are perfect for Halloween...and your next chocolate craving. They have just three ingredients: organic cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, and cocoa butter. They are vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and Non-GMO project verified. (They are also free from

Think Starburst, only without the chemical junk. (They are a little softer than Starburst, but that just makes them suitable for slightly younger children. Though I probably wouldn't give these to a toddler whole. But consider the source on that. Skye is five and I still cut her (organic) hot dogs in little pieces.) These USDA organic candies are made with organic ingredients and have no artificial colors or flavors. My kids LOVE them, and I love know that if they are going to indulge they aren't getting GMO's and other nasties.

These are perfect if you are looking for a little sweet treat for a party. (I was bummed that they weren't individually wrapped and therefore aren't ideally suited to trick-or-treating.) Truth be told, I like these just as much as my kids do. They are vegan, gluten-free, and have just a handful of ingredients

I have to admit - the first time I ordered these I was skeptical that my kids were like them. They are marketed as a product to fight back when cold and allergies hit, and I figured worst case scenario I would put them aside for the next time one of them was under the weather. But that didn't happen.

All three of my kids loved these! They are made with organic Manuka honey, which has antimicrobial properties and vitamin C which we all know can help boost immunity. These are gluten-free, USDA Organic, vegetarian, and made in the USA.

My kids have been enjoying these for treats for years! Made from fruit extracts, each pop has just 22 calories and provides 100% daily vitamin C. They are USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten Free, Vegan, and Kosher. I love that they don't have yucky chemicals, artificial dyes, so, fat, MSG or high-fructose corn syrup. These are a lollipop you can truly feel good about giving your kids.

These 10-packs are perfect for those of you with friends and family that have food allergies. They are free of gluten, dairy, and nuts. According to my kids, they are also delicious. They are vegan, USDA certified organic, and are made with real fruit and sustainable ingredients. I love that they don't have high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, or dyes.
