I will be the first to admit that I’m not good at taking it easy.
It is something I am trying to work on because I know how important downtime is to our self-care.
Yesterday was my birthday.
While I’m at an age where that feels like a bad thing rather than something to get excited about, I was looking forward to treating myself to some much-needed relaxation time.
I felt a little extra excited having an extra hour in my day thanks to Daylight Savings!
This meant I could spend some quality time with the kids, and still have a little quiet time to catch up on some of my favorite magazines and enjoy my Iced Mocha Latte.
My day started off early, as usual.
I have always been an early riser and birthdays are no exception.
Because I get up so early, I also go to bed before my husband, and often my boys.
I was touched when I got up and found that they had my coffee all set to go.
The older I get, the more I take pleasure in the little things.
Making coffee with my Keurig® K-Select™ coffee maker is already so easy, but it was sweet that they had my Green Mountain Coffee Roasters® K-Cup® pod in the machine, the water filled and my mug sitting in place. All I had to do was turn the machine on, lower the lever and touch the button.
The coffee was so good! Thanks to the Strong Brew Button that creates a bolder cup, it was just the way I like it!

Usually, I’ll check up on social media or work on blog posts while having coffee, but yesterday I decided to have coffee and think about my goals for the upcoming year. It was a special way to start the day, and I enjoyed the time to vision and dream immensely.
Just me, my coffee, pen, and paper in the stillness of the morning.
Afterwards, I meditated and did a half hour of gentle yoga.
While I was doing yoga, Skye woke up. I was so relaxed, and into what I was doing that I didn’t hear her until she pounced on top of me with a big hug and a loud “Happy Birthday Mommy!”
While my quiet time was clearly over, I wouldn’t change anything about us doing the last five minutes of yoga together.
Afterwards, we spent time outside as a family, my husband enjoying his morning coffee and the kids playing nearby.
We went to lunch to one of our favorite places, and then it was back home for more R&R.
I rarely order desserts in restaurants, and yesterday was no exception.
It’s just not my thing.
Instead, I enjoyed a delicious Iced Mocha Latte when we got home.
I had planned ahead for this in the morning!
My Keurig® coffee maker made it so easy to brew a perfect cup in the morning with the touch of a button so that it was cooled and ready to make my iced latte when we got home from work.
I sat by the pool, and caught up on my favorite magazines, enjoying the perfect weather and delicious drink.
It was the perfect way to #BrewTheLove and enjoy the extra hour gained.
This Iced Mocha Latte is a delicious way to treat yourself without the guilt!
