Let's Talk Ingredients
I like using New York strip for this—it’s tender, flavorful, and perfect for a quick sear. Ribeye or sirloin works just as well if that’s what you like. (You can also check out my air fryer ribeye recipe if that is what you are craving.)
Garlic powder coats the steak evenly, but you can use fresh minced garlic if you’d rather. Just watch that you don’t burn it.
If you really want to take it over the top, finish it with a spoonful of compound butter—it melts into the steak, making it next-level delicious.

Tips and Tricks
- For perfect steaks, make sure your air fryer is preheated before adding the steaks. Be sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket - this can prevent proper circulation and result in uneven cooking. Flipping also prevents uneven cooking.
- Let the steaks rest for a few minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Trust me, it's worth the wait!
- Use an Instant Read Thermometer: Invest in a meat thermometer to make sure you get the perfect steak every time!
- Leftovers: Leftover steak is great for making steak sandwiches or for enjoying in a salad. Store it in the fridge in an airtight container for up to three days.

I absolutely loved this. I am still in shock on how perfect a steak cooks in an air fryer. More people need to try this, don't be a grill snob.

Omg. We loved it. Made 2 russet potatoes (40 minutes) in air fryer prior to cooking 2 porterhouse steaks using this recipe. It made a beautiful presentation and tasted out of this world! I’ll be cooking steaks this way from here on out. Thanks for the delicious recipe. I’m still licking my lips!
