This Tumeric Nutmilk is the perfect afternoon pick me up that is a great way to combat inflammation. Gluten Free, Soy Free and Vegan.
The older I get, the more in tune I am to what make me feel good.
I am guessing most of us are the same way.
One thing I have learned is that although I love my carbs, I feel so much better when I get adequate protein in my diet.
As someone who doesn't like meat, this isn't easy. Sometimes I have to get a little creative!
That is why I was so excited to hear that Silk just came out with a new Protein Nutmilk.
Silk Protein Nutmilk offers 10 grams of soy-free plant based protein in every serving. It is non-GMO project verified, dairy-free and gluten-free. I picked up the plain (it also comes in Vanilla) and it has just 2 grams of sugar per serving, which is 80% less sugar than dairy milk. It also has 50% more calcium. (Can you say plants for the win here?!) I love that it is also carrageenan-free since carrageenan tends to upset my stomach.
A blend of almond and cashews combined with pea protein, Silk Protein Nutmilk is perfect by itself, but also great in smoothies, over cereal and in your favorite recipes.
My days start early - usually, around 4:30 am. This is by choice because if I want alone time, my only chance of getting it is early morning. As an introvert, I just don't function if I don't get a little alone time each day. (Something else I've learned as I get older.)
Although getting up early saves my sanity, it does mean that by mid-afternoon I often hit an energy low.
For years, I would push through this with the help of caffeine, but that often left me awake at 12 am. This is less than ideal when your day starts as early as mine does.
These days, I find that a light snack with protein makes me feel better. This Turmeric Milk, made with Silk Protein Nutmilk, is just perfect.
I try to get as much turmeric in my diet as a can since there is so much research coming out about all the different ways that it supports your health. This spicy and slightly sweet milk is the perfect pick-me-up that helps me power through the afternoon.

My granddaughter is allergic to dairy so she drinks a lot of nut milk. I don't know what to do when she isn't around to drink it. This would be great especially because I have some inflammation.
