If you're looking for a refreshing treat, look no further than this raspberry smoothie recipe. Bursting with vibrant flavors and packed with nutrients, this naturally gluten-free smoothie is a balanced meal in a glass.

Creating this smoothie is a breeze because it is made with simple ingredients you probably already have on hand.  It takes less than five minutes of total time.

Follow along as we guide you step-by-step on how to create this refreshing, nutritious, and oh-so-delicious recipe for a raspberry smoothie. Let's get blending!

    Ingredients

Overhead photo of oat milk, yogurt, honey, lemon juice, hemp seeds, and raspberries.
    • Milk: You can use any type of milk that you like in this smoothie. I make it most often non-dairy milk such as oat milk to keep this plant based.
    • Yogurt: Use plain or vanilla Greek yogurt to help make this berry smoothie smooth and creamy. Either dairy or dairy-free yogurt will work.
    • Raspberries: You can use fresh or frozen raspberries to make this smoothie. If you use fresh, you may want to add ice after and blend again after you get the other ingredients combined.
    • Lemon Juice: A squeeze of lemon juice brightens up the flavor and adds a zing to this smoothie!
    • Honey: You can use any type of sweetener that you like in this recipe. To make this vegan, choose maple syrup or agave nectar.

    Optional Add Ins

    • Chocolate:  Try adding a tablespoon of chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, cacao nibs, or chocolate protein powder
    • Protein:  A scoop of protein powder will make this afternoon snack even more filling.
    • Juice:  Use apple juice, orange juice, or your favorite fruit juice in place of all or part of the milk
    • Seeds and Nuts:  Bump up the nutrition with chia seeds, hemp seeds, almond butter, or ground flax seeds

Hit the blend button and let it whirl until it's all smooth. If you want your smoothie to be colder or thicker, add some ice cubes and blend until smooth.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Choose Your Raspberries Wisely: Fresh or frozen raspberries can be used for this recipe. If you're using fresh ones, make sure they are ripe and vibrant in color for the best flavor. Frozen raspberries give your smoothie a thicker consistency without adding ice.
    • Add a Protein Boost: To make your smoothie more filling, consider adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder.
    • Sweeten to Taste: The amount of honey in this recipe is just a guideline. Feel free to adjust according to your personal preference. If you prefer a less sweet smoothie, you might even skip the honey altogether.
    • Blend Well: Ensure you blend your smoothie until it's completely smooth. If your blender struggles with the frozen fruit, try adding a little extra milk to help it along.

    Storage

Smoothies are best when served fresh. However, they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Be sure to use an air-tight container and shake well before enjoying.

    FAQs

Why put yogurt in a smoothie?

Yogurt adds a creamy texture and a boost of protein to your smoothie, making it more filling and nutritious. It also helps create a frothy consistency.

Can I use different milk in this recipe?

Yes! Any type of milk can be used for this recipe – cow's, oat, almond milk, coconut milk, and cashew milk are all great options. Choose the one you like best

What other fruits and veggies go well in a raspberry smoothie?

Raspberries are incredibly versatile and pair well with a variety of fruits and vegetables in a smoothie. Here are some great combinations.  I like to prep blends of various fruits ahead of time and keep them in the freezer for an easy breakfast or snack.

    • Bananas: They add creaminess to the smoothie and balance out the tartness of the raspberries.  I like to make a raspberry banana smoothie with frozen banana.
    • Strawberries: Combining raspberries and strawberries creates a delightful berry-packed smoothie.
    • Blueberries: These add a sweet and slightly tart flavor, complementing the raspberries perfectly.
    • Mango: Mango and raspberry make a tropical, sweet, and tangy combination.
    • Peaches: The sweetness of peaches pairs well with the tartness of raspberries, making a refreshing smoothie.
    • Pineapple: Pineapple adds sweetness and a vibrant tropical twist.
    • Spinach or Kale: For a nutrient boost, add some leafy greens like spinach or kale. Their flavor is mild enough not to overpower the taste of the raspberries.
    • Avocado: Adding avocado gives your smoothie a creamy texture without altering the raspberry flavor.
    • Beets: Beets have a naturally sweet flavor that pairs well with raspberries, and they add a beautiful color to your smoothie.

Remember, the combinations are endless, so feel free to experiment with different fruits and vegetables to find your favorite blend!
