If you're looking for a fun dish you can make with the kids, try Homemade Air Fryer Pizza Pockets! Melty parmesan and mozzarella mixed with pizza seasoning and topped with marinara make the perfect ooey-gooey filling. Best of all, prep is a breeze thanks to the premade crust we use for our Pizza Pockets!

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

I love finding tasty recipes that I can make with my kids.

It's a great way to do something fun together, and who doesn't love activities that end in delicious food?

Air fryer recipes are great to make with kids because they typically end in some crispy goodness.

These Homemade Air Fryer Pizza Pockets are perfect for making with the family! They're kind of like pizza Hot Pockets, except they taste so much better.

The fresh ingredients make a big difference.

Thanks to the refrigerated pie crust used for the crust, they're also super easy to whip up.

It probably takes less time than running to the store to purchase a box of Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza! (And air frying makes them so crispy.)

These delicious morsels are hearty enough for dinner, but also make a great snack.

Ingredients for Making Pizza Pockets in the Air Fryer

    • Pie crust — I use the premade kind you find in the refrigerated aisle at the store. It makes this recipe so quick and convenient! Refrigerated pizza dough works as well and requires the same amount of prep time.
    • Cheese — A combination of mozzarella and parmesan adds delicious flavor and gooeyness. I recommend shredding your own to avoid any anti-caking agents you get from pre-shredded cheese. You can use reduced-fat mozzarella cheese if you like. Cheddar also work.
    • Seasoning — Either pizza seasoning or Italian seasoning will work well for this Pizza Pocket recipe.
    • Pepperoni — This ingredient is optional. You can omit it if you prefer a meatless meal. Pork, chicken and beef pepperoni all work.
    • Marinara — Rao’s is my favorite brand of pizza sauce, which you can find in most grocery stores. I like to make my own using this Crockpot Marinara sauce recipe.
    • Milk — You only need a little to help seal the pastry edges. Any kind will work just fine.
    • Egg — This is for brushing the tops before cooking to get them nice and golden.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Feel free to add any of your favorite pizza toppings to the filling! Throw in chopped pepperoni, crumbled sausage, veggies, bacon, or even pineapple and ham if that's your thing.
    • Let the refrigerated dough sit at room temperature for 15-30 minutes to let it warm up a bit. But don't let it sit out longer than that, or it will get too soft and become difficult to work with.
    • Let the homemade Pizza Pockets cool before serving. They will be really hot when they come out of the air fryer, so be sure to give them some time before digging in.
    • Remember that all air fryers are slightly different, so the cooking time can vary.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to spray the basket or use parchment paper?

You don't need to spray the entire basket. Instead, you can either spray the bottom of the pizza pockets or use air fryer liners to prevent any sticking.

What do I do with leftover pizza rolls?

Store any extras in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.

When you're ready to enjoy, reheat the Pizza Pockets in the air fryer to get them perfectly crispy on the outside and melty on the inside. I don't recommend reheating in the oven.

Can I Make Pizza Rolls in the Oven?

You bet! They may not get quite as crispy, but they will still be delicious.

Simply preheat the oven to 400°F, place the Pizza Pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then bake for 20-25 minutes
